When it comes to creating a Willy Wonka-inspired Golden Egg Chocolate Bark, all you need to do is look to the book or the movie for inspiration.
This Wonka Bark features:
Chocolate from the Chocolate River
Gummy Bears from Wonka’s Garden
and
Golden Eggs from Wonka’s Prize Geese, and inside the golden eggs, you will find exploding candy (ok, it is more like popping candy, but that’s close enough!).
Follow this recipe idea or add the sweets you like instead because anything goes in Willy Wonka’s world.
550g Milk Chocolate
1 Small Bar of White Chocolate
1 Pack of Gummy Bears
1 Pack Honeycomb
2 Packs of Smarties
2 Flake Bars
Popping Candy
Edible Gold Dust
EQUIPMENT
Baking Tray
Parchment Paper
Heatproof bowl
Small Paint Brush
Metal Spoon
Teaspoon
Skewer or Toothpick
Egg Moulds
Prep Time: 1 Hour (including setting time)
Cook / Freeze Time: N/A
Servings: Multiple
PREP
Place parchment paper on top of the baking tray so that the surface is completely covered, and then set the tray aside.
STEP 1
Break the milk chocolate into a heatproof bowl and melt it in the microwave or place the bowl in hot water until it is completely melted.
Repeat this step with the white chocolate.
STEP 2
Get the egg moulds and fill them with the melted chocolate.
Bring back the baking tray and turn the egg moulds upside down so that the chocolate falls from the moulds onto the parchment paper.
Hold the mould upside down until only a layer of chocolate is left inside the mould.
Turn the mould right side up and place in the fridge for 5 minutes.
STEP 3
Spread the remaining milk chocolate across the parchment paper with the spoon to cover the whole tray.
Use the teaspoon and spoon 6 – 9 small amounts of white chocolate across the milk chocolate.
With a skewer or toothpick, swirl the white chocolate through the milk chocolate to achieve a marbled effect.
STEP 4
Garnish the chocolate with your chosen sweets and ensure that you leave room for where your golden egg halves will be placed.
After garnishing, place the bark in the fridge to set for 15 minutes.
STEP 5
Remove the chocolate egg halves from the mould.
TIP: If you have trouble removing the chocolate from the mould, place it in the freezer for 5 minutes and try again.
Place the egg halves on a plate and use a paintbrush to cover the entire surface of each egg half with edible gold dust.
STEP 6
Remove the chocolate Bark from the fridge. Ensure it is fully set.
Place a small spoonful of popping candy on each area left for the egg halves to go.
STEP 7
Heat a small plate or pan. Half an egg and place it onn until the plate or pa the edges slightly melt.
Lift the egg half off the plate or pan, firmly place it over the popping candy, and let the egg half set on top of the bark.
Repeat this step for the other halves.
Enjoy!
