Christmas is that time of year when food takes centre stage, and many of us are slaving away in the kitchen trying to ensure dinner makes it to the table on time whilst keeping everyone merry by topping up glasses with Christmas cocktails.
So, with all the fuss surrounding the preparation of Christmas dinner, it makes sense to me to pre-make some appetisers beforehand so I can take them straight out of the fridge and serve them up with no fuss whatsoever.
This Antipasto Christmas Wreath brings together many flavours we all love, from Italian fare, and combines them in a pretty Christmas Wreath design that will look nothing short of amazing on any Christmas tablescape.
What is Antipasto?
Antipasto is the traditional first course of a formal Italian meal.
You can find ingredients such as olives, pickled vegetables, cured meats and cheese decorated on a board or a large plate.
Antipasto is also enjoyed in Italy with drinks:
Below are some social occasions and gatherings where an Antipasto Christmas Wreath can be served:

Decipher how many skewers you can fit on your chosen plate.
We used a round plate that accommodated 16 servings.
Take a cocktail stick and skewer a cherry tomato, then a cherry mozzarella ball and push them to the top.
Fold a strip or round of cured meat, then add to the cocktail stick.
Round cuts of cured meat are good because folding takes on a sort of flower effect.
We used a selection of cured meats, Salami Milano, Bresaola and Parma Ham.
Finish off the cocktail stick by adding an olive to the bottom.
Repeat steps 1-4 for the desired amount of servings.
Decorating the Plate
Arrange the filled cocktail sticks around the plate in a circular shape.
Take the rosemary springs and fill them between every two cocktails sticks around the plate. This will create a foliage effect.
TIP – The more sprigs used, the better so that the wreath looks full.
Finally, add some basil leaves to any areas where you can see the plate and place some figs in the middle of the wreath.
Once you are happy with the presentation, place in the fridge and cover to preserve the ingredients.
